The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Student Assistant who is eager to support the investigative staff to fulfill their stated mission, the active investigation and prosecution of insurance fraud, to join the Enforcement Branch – FraudDivision.

Under the supervision of the Supervising Fraud Investigator I or designee, the Student Assistant works with Investigator(s) and the Supervising Fraud Investigator I in collecting, organizing, and analyzing official and unofficial documents relating to assigned cases. Other support activities also required are statistical and data collection on criminal cases using a variety of computerized databases; retrieval of claim files from insurance carriers; preparation of investigative charts utilizing computers, and the preparation of draft correspondence and report(s). In furtherance of those activities and as directed, Student Assistant supports the Investigator(s) and Supervising Fraud Investigator in collecting, organizing, and analyzing official and unofficial documents relating to assigned cases.
Students are permitted to work up to a maximum of 1500 hours within a 12-month period from their initial appointment. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.
