Job Specific Working Conditions

Los Angeles Student Staff is a school-year program for paid and volunteer Student Staff. The program focuses on training and developing individuals called to incarnational ministry with disinterested kids. It aims to deepen faith and strengthen ministry skills, emphasizing personal spiritual formation and the 5 C’s of Young Life. The curriculum and expectations are adaptable to specific ministry focuses.

This program is mandatory for all paid student staff and optional for committed volunteers. Attendance at all training sessions and completion of assignments are required. Mid-year and year-end evaluations will be conducted, and reports will contribute to annual reviews. The program also serves as a discernment tool for future ministry roles.

Ministry Functions
Spiritual Development
  • Develop a personal growth plan fostering spiritual vitality through prayer, reflection, and Bible study.
  • Maintain active participation in church and Young Life community life.
  • Lead others in spiritual growth activities.
Leadership Development
  • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area staff.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to reflect the community.
  • Model excellence in all contact and camp activities.
Resource Development
  • Raise support and maintain donor relationships.
  • Update supporters on ministry progress.
Direct Ministry
  • Engage actively in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
  • Participate in summer and school-year camping strategies.
Ministry Support
  • Adhere to policies, manage office tasks, and set personal goals.
  • Assist with administrative duties and expense reports.
Training
  • Regional and area-specific training tailored to personal and ministry development.
Qualifications
