Job description

Position Overview

Support the Undergraduate Admission Office through clerical and front‑desk work, giving campus tours and assisting with events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Answer phones, take inquiries, record requests for campus tours and portfolio reviews, take messages for counseling staff, and fill in at the front desk during breaks and lunch.
  • Give 60–90 campus tours daily to prospective students and families, continuously training self and other guides.
  • Assist with 10 in‑person Visit Days for Fall 2021: help with check‑in/registration and event duties.
  • Help pack box requests of admission materials for traveling counselors; process informational and yield mailings; sort and alphabetize loose credentials; create application folders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; remote work may be available if supported by the office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Multitask in a busy office setting.
  • Memorize tour script and facts.
  • Possess a positive, outgoing personality and eagerness to represent MICA.
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills and a professional office demeanor.
  • Be physically able to walk extended periods through campus, including stairs.
  • Have knowledge of MICA’s programs, facilities, student life, and admission procedures.
  • Show effective organizational and problem‑solving skills and strong public‑speaking abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current full‑time degree‑seeking student in good academic standing at MICA.
  • Any semester from sophomore freshman to second semester senior.
  • Transfer students welcome after completing one semester at MICA.
  • Interview required.
Conditions of Employment
  • Occasional weekend work and evening hours required for special events.
  • Access to a personal computer/laptop and Internet required for virtual events.
  • No direct reports.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Occasional standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, balancing, stooping, lifting up to 15 pounds, and typical weather exposure. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
