Ashland High School, part of Ashland School District 5, is seeking a BSU Student Affinity Group Advisor for a temporary position. The role coordinates and facilitates affinity group meetings that are safe and engaging, with a monthly minimum of 150 minutes and collaboration with district and regional partners.

The advisor will manage invitations, maintain confidential attendance records, and oversee materials with site administrator approval.

Responsibilities

• Attend affinity group advisor orientation.
• Quarterly collaboration meetings with other affinity group advisors.
• Annually pass the District's required online training by the assigned due date.
• Attend monthly affinity group advisors PLC hosted by the SOESD.
• Attend work regularly and be punctual.
• Implement decisions within ASD-established policies and procedures.
• Schedule meeting times and locations with site administrator approval.
• Identify potential student participants using available student data and work with office manager as needed.
• Draft and send email and hard copy invites to potential student participants, always using BCC and envelopes to ensure confidentiality.
• Maintain confidential attendance records of meetings and activities.
• Plan year within budget; arrange purchases and reimbursements under oversight.
• Review reading materials before sharing with groups.
• Coordinate with administrators and equity staff for needed support.
• Provide updates to site administrator for newsletters and website news.
• Represent the school and district professionally in interactions with parents and community members.
• Lay out group purpose in initial meeting and create community agreements with input.
• Structure meetings to fit grade level, time, and group needs.
• Facilitate community-building and social-emotional well-being of the group.
• Support planning for collective action and student participation events.
• Solicit feedback from group members via surveys and relay results to district and SOESD.
• Coordinate guest speakers and ensure volunteers are approved.
• Facilitate 150 minutes monthly minimum for secondary affinity groups.
