This position works independently to manage all administrative aspects of the undergraduate and graduate programs for the Department of Classics and the Department of Comparative Literature. The incumbent works directly with the Directors of Graduate Studies (DGS), the Directors of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), the Department Chairs, the Academic Department Team Manager (ADTM), the School of Professional Studies (SPS), the Graduate School, and the Registrar among other offices on campus to manage the administrative and reporting needs of the programs and to ensure that student programs are effectively run and within compliance of relevant university procedures and policy. The incumbent will assist with graduate student recruitment and orientation, track both graduate and undergraduate student progress and be the first point of contact for student inquiries. This position ensures students and faculty are fully supported. When needed, this position will provide backup support for other staff members.
Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience coordinating higher education graduate programs preferred. Strong planning, organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Highly effective oral and written communication skills. High proficiency and strong experience in Microsoft Office software for word processing (Word), spreadsheet applications (Excel), presentations (PowerPoint), and in moving material among these various applications, including documents and files in PDF format. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people. Experience with GSIM, Slate or similar platforms and creating databases preferred. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a multi-tasking environment while maintaining careful attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
