Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) — a renowned organization based in New York focused on education and poverty alleviation — seeks a passionate, dedicated, and mission-aligned Student Advocate to support its After-School programs.

The Student Advocate will monitor the progress of assigned students through regular contact and collaboration with students, parents, school staff, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will develop individualized action plans to help students succeed academically, socially, and personally.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 1 year of experience in youth development
• Knowledge of the New York City school system

What You'll Do

• Promote academic, social, and personal success of over 25 students
• Schedule school visits and meet with guidance counselors and teachers
• Review bi-weekly progress reports
• Schedule weekly advisement/counseling sessions
• Develop curriculum and write lesson plans for workshops
• Maintain student files and draft case notes
• Foster parent involvement
• Support agency-wide programs and events
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• On-site Monday through Friday
• High School After-School (Mon-Thu, 12 PM-8 PM; Fri, 10 AM-6 PM)
• A Cut Above (11 AM - 7 PM)
• Peacemaker Program (10 AM - 6 PM)
