Tulane University is seeking a Student Assistant with Sports Medicine (Football) to support athletic trainers and staff. The position offers hourly pay and requires a flexible morning schedule, with duties including hydration, first aid, and game-day setup.

You will work closely with physicians, trainers, and athletes in the Tulane Sports Medicine program, gaining hands-on experience in patient care, sport screening, and event operations while supporting team health throughout the season.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with Certified Athletic Trainers to assist student-athletes with hydration, preventative care, and first-aid.
• Set up the field for practices/games and clean up afterwards.
• Assist sports medicine staff with daily tasks.

• Help with training room maintenance and organization.
• Provide game coverage support as needed.

Student Assistant with Sports Medicine (Football)

Hourly Pay: $11-15/hr

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Certified Athletic Trainers within Tulane Sports Medicine.
• Assist sport medicine staff in providing services to student-athletes through hydration, preventative care, and first-aid.
• Set up the field for practices/games and clean up afterwards.
• Perform designated tasks as directed by sports medicine staff.
• Handle daily/weekly tasks in the athletic training room outside of practice/game times.

Responsibilities Breakdown

• 60% Assistance with set up, breakdown, and hydration and first aid during practices
• 25% Training room maintenance and organization
• 10% Game coverage including first aid, set up, breakdown, hydration, and operations.
• 5% administrative tasks including filing, sorting, inventory

Hours Per Week

School Year (Fall) → 25-27 hrs/week (broken up into 5, 4 hour shifts)

• Practice → Monday –Friday: 5:30 AM – 12 PM
• Home Games → Saturday or Friday - 8 hour commitment
• Away Games → not required but will be excused for class if on the travel squad

School Year (Spring) → ~20 hrs/week

• Winter Conditioning- M/W/F 5:00AM-8:30AM
• Practice → Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday starting in March : 6:30 AM – 12:00 PM,
• Be available for all practices and all home games (opportunity to travel to away games)
• Times may vary depending on weather and other external variables

Disclaimer

• Student Assistant may be required to work over holidays and breaks such as Summer, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Years (depending on Bowl Game qualifications)
• Student Assistant will be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions such as hot and cold environments and rain.
• Student Assistant will be exposed to loud and distracting noises, especially during sporting events.
