Position Description:

The University of Louisville Division of Student Affairs is seeking to hire a Student Activities Program Manager I. Reporting to the Associate Director, the Student Activities Program Manager is a leader and strategic partner in shaping a thriving, values-driven Fraternity & Sorority Life community. Serving as the second-in-command for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, this position provides leadership and critical support for nearly 1,600 members across multiple councils and organizations.

This position works closely with the Associate Director to cultivate leadership, foster a culture of accountability and compliance, and enhance the overall experience of students in the Fraternity & Sorority Life community, directly impacting student retention, sense of belonging, and overall well-being. The Program Manager is an advocate, mentor, and champion for the Fraternity & Sorority Life community, ensuring its continued growth and positive influence on campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Curates a thriving Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) community of over 30 chapters and 1,500 members, ensuring sustained growth, effective management, and long-term success
  • Enhances student experience through organizational development initiatives and promotes a culture of leadership, service, and belonging – the three guiding principles of the FSL community
  • Provides visionary guidance to one of three Fraternity & Sorority Life governing councils, fostering unity, strategic growth, and operational excellence
  • Serves as trusted advisor and chapter coach to portfolio of 12 Fraternity & Sorority Life chapters, addressing topics such as servant leadership, risk management, and organizational development and supports chapters in recruitment, intake processes, signature programming, and reinforcement of values-based development
  • Facilitates leadership development opportunities, such as annual officer training, chapter president summits, and participation in national leadership experiences, e.g., ALFV
  • Serves as campus expert on federal, state, and local legislation impacting Fraternity & Sorority Life, ensuring Fraternity & Sorority Life policies and programs align, e.g., Stop Campus Hazing and Lofton’s Law
  • Develops and implements proactive educational initiatives on anti-hazing, alcohol consumption, and risk management, fostering a culture of safety, responsibility, and accountability
  • Builds and maintains effective partnerships with fraternity/sorority organization advisors, national headquarters, alumni boards, and campus stakeholders to advance mission of the office
  • Serves as a liaison and an advocate for the Fraternity & Sorority Life community on university committees and initiatives
  • Supervises, mentors, and develops Federal Work Study student assistants and interns, providing meaningful professional experiences that contribute to office’s strategic goals
  • Leads initiatives designed to enhance second-year experience for fraternity and sorority members, reinforcing student retention, engagement, and deepened sense of belonging
  • Develops, implements, and assesses programming and strategic initiatives aimed at supporting holistic success of fraternity and sorority members
