Job summary

East Mississippi Community College is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk to manage student accounts and related paperwork. The role covers posting charges, issuing receipts, processing financial aid disbursements, and maintaining account balances within the college finance office.

The position requires practical experience in accounts receivable within an academic setting, with an Associate degree preferred and 2+ years of experience (5+ years preferred).

Qualifications

  • Work Experience include required number of years documented experience in a comparable/related position.

Responsibilities

  • Records student charges.
  • Prepares receipts to students and third-party payers.
  • Processes awards from Financial Aid office.
  • Calculates and disburses financial aid refunds.
  • Verifies accuracy of student account balances.
  • Reports delinquent accounts to the appropriate parties.
  • Mails account statements to students.
  • Posts receipts to computer daily.
  • Attends to Business Office window.
  • Manages e-books.
  • Maintains room deposit roster monthly, if applicable.
  • Checks up cash drawer and prepares deposits daily.
  • Assists in registration/orientation: calculates student fees, authorizes bookstore credits, etc.
  • Authorizes and monitors payment plans.
  • Submits invoices and maintains other accounts receivable from tuition assistance, Vocational Rehab, WIOA, employers, industry, etc.
  • Distributes work-study payment information.
  • Assists with transmittal of aid.
  • Performs general office duties, including answering account inquiries, operating office equipment.
  • And any other duties as assigned

Job Title

Accounts Receivable Clerk (A/R Clerk) is responsible for general management of student accounts and for all duties, paperwork and necessary documentation as required in carrying out responsibilities

Essential Job Functions
  • Records student charges;
  • Prepares receipts to students and third-party payers;
  • Processes awards from Financial Aid office;
  • Calculates and disburses financial aid refunds;
