Job summary

Austin Community College District is seeking a Specialist I - Access Assistant (Hourly) to provide specialized services and support to the departmental office or program. The role includes reader/ scribe duties, attending class with students, and facilitating access to technology and accessible software in class, lab, or testing settings.

This is an hourly position with up to 19 hours per week at $23.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Acts as a reader and/or scribe, including note‑taking before, after, or in class, lab, or testing environments.
• Attends class/lab with the student.
• Facilitates computer and technology access as appropriate.
• May assist with access to technology as appropriate.
• May describe graphics or pictures in the classroom, lab, or testing environment.
• May assist student with object manipulation during laboratory classes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Proficiency with accessible software and devices.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding student information.
• Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.
• Willingness to work closely with students with disabilities.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
