Job summary

Stanford University is hiring a full-time Disability Adviser in the Office of Accessible Education. You will work with students to determine accommodations and collaborate with campus partners to implement them, applying university policies and maintaining records.

The role requires handling complex cases, trainings, and outreach, with a hybrid on-site presence 3-4 days per week. A 13-month fixed-term appointment is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with federal disability law including the ADA and Section 504, as well as relevant university policies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with time management and adaptability to competing priorities.
  • Advanced customer service skills with diverse stakeholders in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong relationship-building with students and constituents in a professional manner.
  • Ability to think critically and exercise independent judgment with supervision as needed.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and best practices across identities and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with students to determine appropriate accommodations on a case-by-case basis.
  • Collaborate with staff and faculty to guide the interactive process and implementation of accommodations.
  • Interpret and apply University policies and procedures.
  • Advise students on disclosure, disability management, rights and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Residential and Dining Enterprises, VPUE, academic departments, and other partners.
  • Facilitate trainings, workshops, and represent the department at campus events.
  • Consult on complex cases with managers and colleagues.
  • Direct students to grievances processes.
  • Maintain records with communications and meeting notes.
  • Implement policies to support accommodations in academic and housing settings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
