Job summary

Bombardier’s Learjet unit in Hartford is seeking a Structures Technician for the weekend shift to service customer aircraft. You will troubleshoot, repair, inspect and perform maintenance on structural components in line with engineering drawings and safety procedures.

The role requires training from a sheet metal aircraft technical school or equivalent, and typically 3+ years of sheet metal repair/modification experience; you must be able to read drawings and work with a basic set of hand

Qualifications

  • Must have training from a sheet metal aircraft technical school or equivalent.
  • Typically 3+ years of aircraft structural sheet metal repair/modification experience.
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Own a basic set of hand tools and manage tools inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, inspect and perform maintenance on customer aircraft.
  • Fabricate and modify structural components on aircraft parts.
  • Perform minor structural repairs on composite components.
  • Assist in hidden damage inspections of aircraft structures.
  • Assist with complex structural repairs on or off aircraft.
  • Assist with aircraft component repair and with removing/installing components.
  • Adhere to safety policies and environmental health procedures.
  • Operate ground support equipment as required.
  • Maintain documentation per manuals and regulations.
  • Occasionally work at off-site locations and during weekends.

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Troubleshoot, repair, inspect and perform maintenance on customer aircraft
  • Fabricate and or modify structural modifications on aircraft parts
  • Perform minor structural repairs on composite components either attached or detached
  • Assist in conducting hidden damage inspection of aircraft structures
  • Assist with complex structural repairs either on or off aircraft
  • Assist with aircraft component repair
  • Remove / install aircraft components as required
  • Comply with environmental health and safety policies/procedures
  • Participate in 5-S activities Perform work in a safe and timely manner
  • Perform and document work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required
  • Operate ground support equipment as required
  • Assist with mechanical / electrical removals and installations as needed
  • Assist with maintenance at off-site locations as needed
  • Assist with towing aircraft as needed
  • Assist with other maintenance disciplines as needed
  • Adhere to Bombardier General Work Requirements for factory, shop and/or hanger positions

How to thrive in this role?

  • You have received training from a sheet metal aircraft technical school or have equivalent schooling
  • You typically have at least 3 years of aircraft structural sheet metal repair / modification experience
  • You have the ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings
  • You have the ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status
  • You own a basic set of hand tools with the ability to demonstrate Inventory and control of tools
  • You have the ability to obtain appropriate Ground Support Equipment (GSE) qualifications as required
  • You are able to work unscheduled overtime including nonscheduled work days and holidays
  • You are able to work in seasonal/inclement weather outside
  • You have the ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA) if applicable
  • You have basic PC skills
