Job summary

Empowering People’s Independence (EPI) seeks a leader to direct the Structured Day Program, ensuring safe, effective services and compliant operations. You will oversee staffing, partnerships with families and service coordinators, and ensure accurate DOH-compliant documentation.

The role emphasizes supervisory duties, on-call rotation, and collaboration with Community Services leadership to support individuals’ goals and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Minimum associate’s degree preferred; two years supervisory experience is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred with three years combined experience in human services and supervision.
• Knowledge of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and NHTD waivers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and day-to-day operations of the SDP.
• Maintain staffing levels to support services and health of individuals.
• Monitor government documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in referrals, admissions, placements, and discharges.
• Review billing documentation for funder and DOH compliance.
• Participate in on-call supervisory rotation and collaborate with management.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to provide the continuous direction and day-to-day operations of the Community Service’s Structured Day Program (SDP).

Hiring Range

$53,500/yr-$60,500/yr commensurate with experience

Essential Functions

• Maintain the health & well-being of individuals served and ensure adequate staffing levels to support services.
• Monitor all government required documentation and ensure accuracy.
• Participate in all external referrals, admissions, placement, and discharges.
• Review and sign off on all billing documentation to ensure compliance with funder and Department of Health (DOH) regulations.
• Participate in supervisory on-call rotation.
• Collaborate and support all levels of management, families, and outside providers such as service coordinators and employees.
• Assume role of Direct Support Professional (DSP) as needed to ensure proper levels of support.
• Ensure all required reporting is completed per specification.
• Follow up on all Direct Support Professional (DSPs) documentation ensuring it is accurate and up to date.
• Report all policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Promote workplace safety.
• Must attend Leadership trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Community Services Associate Director and/or designee within scope of practice.

Non-Essential Functions

• Other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
• Participate on various EPI committees as able.

Compliance

• Must maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion concerning all business-related matters, including but not limited to board/vendors/donors’ names, investigations, finance, operations, and employee relations matters.
• Must be willing to complete specific company required trainings as mandated at time of hire and annually thereafter as per OPWDD regulations.
• Must adhere to all departmental /company policies & procedures at all times.

Education and Experience

• Minimum associate’s degree preferred in related field, or one with a recreation focus with two (2) years supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred with minimum of three (3) years combined experience in human services field and supervision.
• Knowledge of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) & Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) waivers a plus.

Supervision

• Ensure team compliance of annual trainings.
• Manage direct report(s) time and attendance using HRIS platform.
• Manages team of one (1) Assistant Supervisor and minimum five (5) Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Must collaborate with Human Resources for; recruitment/onboarding, performance management, etc.

Computer Skills

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs to include Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License-a vehicle is required for business travel.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all persons supported and a diverse employee population of various levels within the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to use poise, tact, maturity and diplomacy, during difficult and/or stressful situations to effectively collaborate and resolve issues.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, and customer requests, while meeting deadlines.
