Job summary

Rappahannock IT is seeking a Structured Cable Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair structured cabling systems across our network. You will pull, route, and terminate cables, deploy racks and patch panels, and ensure reliable connectivity for business operations.

Responsibilities include configuring routers, switches, APs, and firewalls; troubleshooting outages; and documenting network layouts.

Qualifications

1–3+ years of professional experience in structured cabling or network installation.
High school diploma or equivalent; CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications are highly regarded.
Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve cable-related issues.
Familiarity with cloud-based networking solutions.
Familiarity with VoIP systems and network integration for telecom.
Experience with structured data cabling and physical network design.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Pull, route, and install Cat5/Cat6 and test cables.
Terminate, splice, and test cables using industry-standard tools.
Install network racks and patch panels.
Troubleshoot and repair network faults and connectivity issues.
Label, document, and test cable runs according to standards.
Configure and manage network hardware such as routers, switches, and access points.
Monitor network performance and document configurations.
