Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking qualified welders with 3+ years of hands-on welding experience in ship construction. You will perform structural and pipe welds using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW across various positions, contributing to the construction of naval ships.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 3 years of welding experience.
• Must be able to take measurements or be willing to learn.
• Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs and pass a respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding tasks including structural and/or pipe welds in ship construction.
• Operate various welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW) in multiple positions.
• Complete nondestructive testing requirements through visual, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and radiographic inspections.
• Receive training including certified visual inspection, fire watch, and equipment troubleshooting.
