Job summary

MET-CON is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Welder to join our Florida team. This role welds steel components per shop drawings, including vertical and overhead welds, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety. Overtime may be required; shift is 3:30 p.m.–2 a.m.

Monday–Friday with a $3 shift differential. Candidates should have 2+ years in structural steel fabrication, be able to read weld symbols, pass a welding test, and have FCAW/SMAW experience (GMAW a plus).

Qualifications

• 2+ years in structural steel fabrication.
• Experience welding in vertical and overhead positions.
• Ability to read shop drawings and interpret weld symbols.
• Experience with FCAW and/or SMAW; GMAW a plus.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
• Experience with fillet and groove welds, including CJP.
• Must pass a welding test and meet AWS welder qualification standards.

Responsibilities

• Weld structural steel components per shop drawings and weld symbols.
• Check fit-up, clean, and preheat joints before welding.
• Maintain welding certifications per AWS standards.
• Visually inspect welded components for quality and accuracy.
• Operate overhead cranes and welding-related equipment safely.
• Communicate with team to ensure quality and timely completion.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Assist with maintenance of tooling and area cleanliness.
