Job summary

MET-CON, Inc. is seeking experienced Structural Fitter/Fabricators in Florida to join our team. The role entails reading steel blueprints, fitting and tack-welding components, and fabricating assemblies with MIG or FCAW processes in a busy shop.

The candidate will use precision measuring tools, operate shop equipment, and maintain strict quality and safety standards. Overtime may be required based on production demands.

Qualifications

• Experience fitting and assembling structural steel.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints and shop drawings.
• Proficiency using precision measuring tools (tape measures, squares, levels).
• Experience with tack welding and preparing assemblies for final welding.
• Familiarity with AWS welding symbols and structural fabrication standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
• Fit, align, assemble, and tack-weld structural steel components to project specs.
• Fabricate assemblies including beams, columns, braces, frames, and miscellaneous parts.
• Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prepare materials for fabrication.
• Operate grinders, torches, saws, and other shop tools.
• Perform layout and fitting to ensure accurate dimensions and tolerances.
• Coordinate with welders and supervisors to maintain production schedules.
• Inspect finished assemblies for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
