Job summary

Shepard Steel is seeking an experienced Welder in the Structural department. The role entails reading drawings, fabricating structural components, and welding in various positions under supervision.

Applicants should be able to pass welding tests, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to lift 70 pounds. A valid driver's license and English literacy are required; overtime may be available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a welding test.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physically able to lift 70 pounds unassisted.
• Able to bend, twist and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and diagrams to perform tasks.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or horizontal positions.
• Perform FCAW and other welding based on project needs.
• Deburr and grind metal to required surface texture.
• Prepare materials and mark components for welding.
• Operate hand and power tools in welding/fabrication.
• Plan layout using procedures, blueprints, and work orders.
• Maintain safety and quality standards; overtime as required.
