Job summary

Skillforce in Houston is seeking skilled welders for steel fabrication projects. Tasks include welding, grinding, cutting and finishing in a shop setting, with typical hours Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Overtime depends on the production schedule.

Pay is $25 per hour. Candidates must be certified welders (AWS D1.1 preferred) and able to pass tests. Able to lift 60–100 lbs, work in a non-climate-controlled environment, and speak English.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified welder; AWS D1.1 qualification preferred.
• Vertical welding experience is a plus.
• Must be able to pass welding test on vertical welds.
• Must be able to lift up to 60–100 lbs, sometimes with a partner.
• Work in a non-climate-controlled environment and varied postures.
• Must wear respirator when required and follow safety rules.
• Must understand and speak English.
• Need clean background for 5 years; good work history (3 years).
• High school diploma or GED required.

Job description

Currently seeking skilled and experienced Welders to join our team in for projects in Houston. Typically, Mon-Fri, 10 hours per day, 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. OT depends on the production schedule. Saturdays will be scheduled in advance . Pay is $25 per hour.

• Candidate duties are welding and associated activities (grinding, painting, cutting, etc._) in a steel fabrication shop.
• Employees will be trained for correct quality checks, and must be able to self-perform visual quality check as instructed.
• Employee will trained in, and must follow all environmental, health, and safety requirements. Employee will be trained in safe use of shop equipment, such as grinders, shears, cranes, etc.

Requirements:

• Candidate must be a certified welder, unless specified. Experience with vertical welding is a plus.
• Candidate will be tested on ability during interview. The candidate will have to weld a vertical up on test coupons and we send it to the testing facility.
• All the welders must be AWS D1.1 qualified.
• Must be able to occasionally lift a maximum of 60 pounds or up to 100 pounds with a partner.
• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Must be able to work in a variety of postures. May include flat welding, vertical welding, overhead welding, and positions that require reaching, bending and twisting.
• Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
• Must understand and speak English.
• Must have clean background for 5 years.
• High school education, GED or equivalent a minimum.
• Good work history, i.e. one job for 3 years
