WELDER

Position Overview
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for welding, fabrication, modification, repair, fit-up, and assembly of structural and mechanical components used in industrial, oil & gas, and power-generation equipment. The position works from engineering drawings, weld procedures, specifications, bills of material, and work instructions to produce high-quality components that meet dimensional, structural, and workmanship requirements while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, dimensional accuracy, and workmanship.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on fabrication skills, can independently set up and operate welding equipment, accurately interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols, and is comfortable working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals commonly used in industrial equipment manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials as required.
- Fabricate, modify, repair, and assemble structural and mechanical components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, bills of material, and work instructions.
- Measure, cut, fit, tack, weld, grind, and finish materials to required dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform fit-up and welding of structural frames, brackets, supports, skids, piping supports, and equipment components.
- Support fabrication and modification of oilfield and industrial equipment, including trailers, pump packages, skids, and related production equipment.
- Identify fabrication issues, dimensional discrepancies, material defects, or drawing conflicts and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor, Quality, or Engineering personnel.
- Perform rework and repair welding when authorized and according to approved procedures.
- Use welding machines, grinders, saws, cutting equipment, measuring devices, clamps, and other fabrication tools safely.
- Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and fabricated components before releasing work for Quality inspection.
- Maintain accurate production, work-order, material, and inspection documentation as required.
- Follow established WPS, quality requirements, and applicable welding standards.
- Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-job meetings, 6S activities, and other safety initiatives.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and assigned work areas in clean and serviceable condition.
- Support assembly, repair, testing, and other production activities when fabrication workload permits.
- Perform other production-related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2 years of industrial welding/fabrication experience preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and measurements.
- Ability to use tape measures, squares, levels, calipers, and other measuring tools.
- Working knowledge of fabrication techniques, weld preparation, joint fit-up, and material preparation.
- Ability to perform basic layout, cutting, fitting, grinding, and finishing.
- Ability to pass a company-required welding test/qualification before performing production welding independently.
- Experience in oil & gas, heavy equipment, manufacturing, pressure pumping, or industrial fabrication is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to identify common weld defects and fabrication quality issues.
- Ability to pass a company-required welding/fabrication skills test prior to performing production welding independently.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing/industrial environment and meet established production and quality requirements.
- Must be able to provide and maintain required personal hand tools appropriate for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of industrial, heavy equipment, oil & gas, power-generation, or manufacturing welding/fabrication experience.
- Experience welding structural steel, stainless steel, or heavy-gauge materials.
- Experience fabricating skids, trailers, frames, pump packages, pressure-pumping equipment, or other industrial equipment.
- Experience working from detailed fabrication drawings and engineering specifications.
- Familiarity with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), weld qualification requirements, and weld inspection processes.
- Experience working in accordance with AWS, ASME, API, or other applicable industry standards.
- Experience with FCAW or other specialized welding processes.
- Experience in performing weld repairs and rework based on Quality or Engineering requirements.
- Previous experience in oil & gas, power generation, industrial equipment manufacturing, or heavy equipment manufacturing.
- Welding certifications or qualifications relevant to the position.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials and tools weighing up to [XX] pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to work around welding fumes, heat, sparks, noise, dust, and industrial equipment while following required PPE and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/production environment and meet scheduled production requirements.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or extended hours as required by production schedules.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including welding hood, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, protective clothing, and safety footwear.
Welding Qualification
- Selected candidates may be required to successfully complete a hands-on welding/fabrication test designed to evaluate:
- Welding technique and consistency
- Weld appearance and quality
- Fit-up and joint preparation
- Blueprint and weld-symbol interpretation
- Measurement and dimensional accuracy
- Welding machine setup
- Ability to follow a WPS
- Safe operation of welding and fabrication equipment
- Successful completion of the welding qualification test may be required before the candidate is permitted to perform production welding independently.

The Welder/Fabricator is expected to perform all duties with a strong commitment to safety, ensuring the well-being of themselves, coworkers, customers, and third parties always.
The role requires flexibility to work extended hours, including days, and as needed, nights, weekends, and holidays to support project and service requirements.
Work conditions may vary and include indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to varying weather conditions, and active industrial or construction sites. The Welder/Fabricatormust consistently follow all safety protocols and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
