Job summary

The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking a Structural Trades II for the Air National Guard Division, based at Greeley and other Colorado sites. The role focuses on maintenance of doors, electrical systems, carpentry, flooring, and facility services with a Tuesday–Friday 6:30 am–5:00 pm schedule and occasional on-call support.

Responsibilities

  • Performs independent routine preventative maintenance and repair on door systems, gates, and related hardware.
  • Maintains and repairs low voltage electrical systems on doors and gate operators.
  • Carpentry and building maintenance including rough framing and finish work.
  • Installs/repairs flooring, ceilings, walls, drywall, and painting.
  • Installs cabinets, countertops, and office furniture.
  • Performs annual inspections and re-certifications.
  • Manage contracts, scheduling, and escort contractors and coworkers for service.
  • Assist HVAC, plumbing, custodial, and grounds trades for additional support.
  • Roads and Grounds maintenance including snow removal, mowing, and plant care.
  • Custodial maintenance including cleaning and disinfecting facilities.
  • Escort duties for access to controlled areas.
  • Submit material requests, estimates, and quotes to supervisor.

The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army national Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, state, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and state emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado veterans.

This position is assigned to Air National Guard Division, by performing structural and facilities maintenance-based work at Greeley Air National Guard Station, Buckley SFB, Peterson SFB, and Fort Carson Airburst Range. The work schedule of this position is Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional emergency call-back and on-call support will be required for this position. This position performs, but is not limited to, the following duties:

  • Performs independent routine preventative maintenance and repair on all door systems, personnel doors, interior and exterior, overhead garage doors, hanger doors, mega-doors, vehicle and pedestrian security gates, and chain link fence systems;
  • Maintains and repairs low voltage electrical systems on doors, overhead garage operators, vehicle/pedestrian security gate operators and Crane and Hoists with assistance from Electrical Shop as needed;
  • Performs a variety of carpentry and building maintenance work, including rough framing and finish carpentry;
  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of flooring systems, ceilings, and roof systems; wall systems and drywall; drywall mudding, taping, sanding, texturing, caulking, priming, and painting;
  • Installs and repairs cabinets, countertops, and office furniture;
  • Performs annual inspections and re-certifications;
  • Responsible for maintaining contracts, scheduling, and escorting contractors, customers and co-workers for all mission critical service contracts;
  • Provides assistance to Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Custodial and Grounds trades for additional facility support to maintain safe, functional, and mission readiness as needed or required;
  • Roads and Grounds maintenance to include snow removal, mowing, tumbleweed removal, trimming and maintaining trees and shrubbery, weed control, lawn irrigation systems, fertilizing trees and shrubbery, sign installation and replacement, pavement maintenance of both asphalt and concrete and general site clean-up;
  • Custodial maintenance to include cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and drinking fountains, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of floors, trash removal, stripping and waxing of floors, and cleaning windows; performing weekly staging of site garbage dumpsters for easy off base access to contractor for servicing; secondary coverage of General Labor I position when necessary;
  • Provides escort duties of contractors and co-workers needing access to controlled and restricted areas; and
  • Performs administrative functions such as daily work order completion and review, Kronos time keeping daily inputs and leave requests, emails and shared schedules awareness and assisting with coordination and scheduling of preventative maintenance and direct scheduled work orders; and
  • Submits material requests, estimates and quotes for service to supervisor.
