  • Secret U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; exposure to outdoor elements and loud noise.

  • Update job status in the operations database; keep tools and equipment maintained and calibrated.
  • Drive continuous improvement and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Job description

Varstaff is looking for a Structural Technician IV (senior/lead level) in Vandalia, OH

About the Job: Assemble and build major aerospace structures and lead complex, critical assembly operations. You will translate blueprints into structural assemblies (layout, precision drilling, countersinking, calibrated tools), align parts on jigs and aircraft using templates and fixtures, verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers, and act as a liaison between the production floor, quality and engineering. 12-month contract, 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and execute highly complex and critical structural assembly operations (filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, reaming).
  • Provide expert technical support and mentorship to technicians at all levels; develop and deliver training.
  • Lead large-scale assembly projects to timeline and quality standards.
  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes; conduct advanced inspections and quality checks.
  • Update job status in the operations database and keep tools and equipment maintained and calibrated.
  • Drive continuous improvement and coordinate cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and typically 10+ years (8-15+) of relevant aerospace structures experience.
  • Mastery of blueprint reading and technical documentation; complete installations per drawings while maintaining edge distance and pitch.
  • Advanced experience with structure assembly, minor part fitting and repair/refinishing such as airframe corrosion removal.
  • Ability to install fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.
  • Must own tools in good working order.
  • Secret U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs; frequent exposure to outdoor elements and loud noise.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in aerospace manufacturing or related discipline; advanced aerospace manufacturing certifications.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale assembly projects.
  • Aerospace and defense, DoD or US military background; ability to travel.
