Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Structural Steel Quality Inspector for 1st shift on a contract-to-hire basis. This shop-floor role inspects fabricated structural steel components, checks welding, materials, and finished work against drawings, and ensures compliance with AWS D1.1, D1.5, and AISC standards.

Position requires climbing, standing, and working in a non-climate-controlled facility. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of structural steel fabrication experience, strong attention to detail,

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of structural steel fabrication experience.
• Experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and AISC standards.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Experience using inspection tools such as Fillet weld gauges, V-WAC gauges, squares, tape measures, and other standard QC inspection equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of structural steel components throughout fabrication.
• Check welding, materials, and finished work against drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Verify compliance with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, AISC standards.
• Inspect incoming materials, parts, and welding consumables.
• Document inspection results and maintain QC records and related documentation.
• Use and maintain inspection equipment and welding-related quality tools.
• Calibrate welding equipment and quality inspection instruments as required.
• Support welder qualification and certification activities.
• Assist with training involving welding, fitting, and quality requirements.
• Maintain drawing control and other QC processes.
• Work with production and management to identify and correct quality issues.
• Participate in continuous improvement and company training programs.
• Promote safe work practices throughout the fabrication facility.

Starting Pay: Up to $32/hour, depending on experience

Position Summary

Seeking a Quality Inspector with hands-on structural steel fabrication experience to verify materials, welding, coatings, and finished components meet project specifications and applicable industry standards.

This is primarily a shop-floor position in an active manufacturing environment with limited office work. The facility is non-climate-controlled, so candidates should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and being on their feet throughout the day.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and AISC standards.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Experience using inspection tools such as:
  • Fillet weld gauges
  • V-WAC gauges
  • Squares
  • Tape measures
  • Other standard QC inspection equipment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Experience with nondestructive testing methods, including:
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
  • Penetrant Testing (PT)
• Additional certifications in structural steel fabrication, bolting, coatings, or welding inspection.
• Previous experience in a steel manufacturing or fabrication environment.

Work Environment

• Primarily performed on the production floor.
• Limited office work.
• Non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
• Regular standing, walking, and inspection of steel materials throughout the workday.
