Job summary

CD&H Inc. is seeking an Experienced Structural Steel Fabrication Shop Quality Control (QC) Technician in El Dorado, Kansas. The role involves inspecting fabricated steel components to ensure compliance with project specs, codes, and customer requirements.

You will work under the Shop Manager, maintaining records and coordinating corrective actions with shop personnel. Qualified candidates have at least 3 years in steel fabrication QC, knowledge of AWS standards, and the ability to read

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in structural steel fabrication quality control or inspection.
• Experience inspecting structural steel fabrication, welding, and fabricated assemblies.
• Familiarity with AWS welding standards and structural steel fabrication practices.
• Experience with AISC fabrication standards is a plus.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and project specifications.
• Strong computer skills for documentation and reporting.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of structural steel fabrication throughout all stages of production.
• Verify components meet project drawings and applicable standards.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, fabrication details, blueprints, and weld symbols.
• Inspect fit-up, dimensions, hole locations, weld preparations, and completed assemblies.
• Conduct visual weld inspections and identify defects or non-conforming work.
• Maintain quality control records, inspection reports, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with shop personnel to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions.
• Communicate with project managers, supervisors, customers, and third-party inspectors as needed.
