Job summary

Alamo Structural Steel, LLC in Texas is hiring an Assistant Quality Control Inspector to ensure all fabricated structural and miscellaneous steel meets project specs, codes, and our quality standards. You will work with shop personnel, project managers, welders, fitters, and field crews to verify quality throughout fabrication and before shipment.

Qualifications

5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, or quality control.
Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of AWS welding symbols and inspection requirements.
Proficient with tape measures, levels, squares, and inspection tools.

Responsibilities

Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated structural and miscellaneous steel components.
Verify dimensions, hole locations, fit-up, weld quality, camber, and assembly accuracy against final fabrication drawings.
Ensure materials match fabrication drawings, material test reports (MTRs), and project specifications.
Inspect incoming materials for damage, correct grade, and compliance with purchase orders.
Conduct visual weld inspections in accordance with AWS standards.
Verify proper weld sizes, lengths, locations, and welding procedures are being followed.
Ensure fabricated assemblies meet customer and contract requirements before shipment.
