Job summary

SunSteel seeks a Structural Steel Project Engineer to supervise detailing operations and support project teams in Vancouver, WA. You will manage customer projects, coordinate shop and erection drawings, and maintain proactive communication with internal and external clients to meet project objectives.

The role emphasizes strong organization, problem-solving, and adherence to AISC, AWS, ASTM, and OSHA guidelines, with safety and quality at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 3–5 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of AISC, AWS, ASTM, and OSHA requirements is preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Strong customer orientation and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Review contract documents to determine scope and coordinate with sales on turnover.
• Coordinate shop and erection drawing incorporation.
• Process RFIs: write, review, modify, confirm legitimacy, and communicate with customers.
• Review shop/erection drawings prior to distribution and maintain schedule emphasis.
• Coordinate with production control for drawing logs and load lists.
• Create and maintain project load lists and resolve shop questions.
