Job summary

ACS Professional Staffing seeks a Senior Structural Engineer - Discipline Lead for a client in Vancouver, WA. This role leads structural design standards, QA initiatives, and multidisciplinary project execution as the primary technical authority.

Candidates should have 10+ years of structural design experience, a PE license, and strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills. The position is full-time with benefits and a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

• PE license required; SE designation a plus, not required.
• 10+ years of experience post-graduation in structural design.
• Extensive design experience with building structural systems (wood, steel, concrete, masonry).
• Strong understanding of building codes and value engineering practices.
• Strong technical expertise in design, documentation, QA, and cross-discipline coordination.
• Outstanding organization and attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to prioritize strategically and adapt to long-range goals.
• Proficiency with MS 365, Bluebeam, Revit; Enercalc, RISA preferred.
• Proven leadership, mentoring, organizational, and delegation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of structural design standards.
• Monitor design sequencing, QA processes, peer reviews, construction feedback, and emerging technologies for technical excellence.
• Serve as the company’s primary technical resource and final authority for structural matters.
• Identify mentorship and continuing education opportunities to strengthen the structural team.
• Evaluate structural candidates and support leadership with assessments of technical competency and team fit.
• Provide guidance on design and drafting challenges and develop effective solutions.
• Collaborate with Discipline Leads to establish best practices and quality standards across disciplines.
• Independently lead structural design staff through project design and construction phases.
• Work in a multi-discipline team to develop structures, drawings, and specifications.
• Respond to contractors during construction.
