Job summary

Aerotek in York, PA is seeking a Structural Steel Layout Fitter / Fabricator to join a busy fabrication team. This hands-on role involves reading blueprints, layout fitting, welding and operating overhead cranes to assemble large steel components.

You will perform flux-core welding, cut and heat torches, check tolerances, and ensure safety and quality standards on the shop floor. This permanent, onsite position offers strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have structural steel fitting and layout experience.
• Flux-core welding experience on structural steel is required.
• Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols is essential.
• Experience operating overhead cranes is required.
• Knowledge of beam layout, fit-up, and structural assemblies is necessary.
• Experience using cutting and heating torches is needed.
• Strong attention to detail and workmanship is essential.
• Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment.
• Ability to handle and work around large steel components.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components from blueprints.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols.
• Perform structural steel welding (Flux-Core/FCAW).
• Operate overhead cranes to move and position materials.
• Use cutting and heating torches for steel modifications and heat corrections.
• Check beam camber and sweep tolerances and make adjustments as needed.
• Set up jigs and fixtures for fabrication and welding projects.
• Maintain quality standards and inspect finished work.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Support daily production needs within the structural department.
