Job summary

Kinsley Steel, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking a skilled Fitter Fabricator who will independently perform layout, fitting, and fabrication using blueprint interpretation and a variety of welding and cutting processes.

You will read complex drawings, operate fabrication equipment, verify dimensions, and train junior fabricators as needed. This role requires proficiency in MIG, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW, plus a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Qualifications

• In-house AISC Layout & Fit-Up training completion is expected.
• Proven fabrication experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced layout and fit-up activities.
• Weld using MIG, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, SAW and in all positions (AWS D1.1 / D1.5).
• Operate torch and plasma cutting equipment.
• Read and interpret complex fabrication drawings.
• Operate hand saws, mag drills, and fabrication equipment.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Assist with training junior fabricators.

Job description

The Fitter Fabricator independently performs layout, fitting, and fabrication activities requiring advanced blueprint interpretation and equipment operation.

Daily Responsibilities

• Perform advanced layout and fit-up activities.
• Perform MIG, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, SAW
• Weld in all positions to AWS D1.1. D1.5 standards. (1G, 2G, 3G, 6G)
• Perform advance torch and plasma cutting operations
• Read and interpret complex fabrication drawings.
• Independently operate hand saws, mag drills, and fabrication equipment.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Assist with training junior fabricators.

Successful Candidates Will Have

• Ability to complete inhouse training of AISC Layout & Fit-Up Training.
• Proven fabrication experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
