Job summary

MMI Industrial & Steel is seeking a true Structural Fabricator/Welder to read shop drawings, lay out, fit, and weld structural steel members. The role requires independent work and capability with beams, columns, stairs, frames, and miscellaneous assemblies.

You will handle CJP, PJP, groove, and fillet welds and ensure proper sequencing and quality. Candidates should be proficient with layout tools, rigging, and welding equipment, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in structural steel fabrication and welding.
• Ability to fabricate a member from a shop drawing with minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding of structural drawings and weld symbols.
• Experience with beams, columns, stairs and assemblies.
• Knowledge of CJP, PJP, groove and fillet welds.
• Ability to lay out and fit-up accurately and safely.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and weld symbols.
• Lay out, fit, assemble, and weld structural members to print.
• Fabricate beams, columns, stairs, frames, and assemblies.
• Prepare welds, back-gouge, multi-pass welds as required.
• Perform measurements, leveling, squaring, and inspection.
• Operate cranes and rigging to position members for welding.
• Ensure quality, safety, and compliance with weld symbols.
