Job summary

MK Consulting Group is seeking a Structural Steel Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to ensure welded structures meet engineering blueprints, safety laws, and industry codes in Austin.

You will perform visual inspections, monitor fabrication, verify welding procedures, witness NDT, and document quality control data, collaborating with project managers and engineers. Requires AWS CWI, 2–5+ years, strong blueprint reading, NDT knowledge, and ability to work at heights.

Qualifications

• Ability to inspect welding joints and assemblies for defects and dimensional accuracy.
• Interpret structural blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols for compliance.
• Ensure adherence to AWS D1.1 and related codes like AISC/ASTM.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and verify welder certifications.
• Witness NDT/NDE activities such as UT, MT, or PT.
• Maintain inspection records, log non-conformances, and sign off on components.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural steel joints and assemblies before, during, and after welding for defects and dimensional accuracy.
• Read blueprints and welding symbols to verify compliance with specs.
• Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 and related codes like AISC/ASTM.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications and verify welder certifications.
• Witness and coordinate NDT/NDE activities (UT, MT, PT).
• Maintain inspection records, log non-conformances, and sign off components.
