Job summary

Confidential Recruiting Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Structural Steel Buyer/Material Coordinator to support purchasing, material planning, and production operations onsite in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires experience in structural steel fabrication, material takeoffs, and reading shop drawings, with strong Excel skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Onsite position with no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in structural steel fabrication or related field.
• Experience with material takeoffs and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop and erection drawings.
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Track inventory and material availability.
• Issue purchase orders and track material deliveries.
• Support nesting activities to maximize material utilization.
• Review fabrication and production files for accuracy prior to release.
• Maintain production documentation and workflow records.
• Verify material quantities and specifications before release to production.
• Perform material takeoffs from shop drawings and BOMs.
• Prepare material orders using shop drawings and BOMs.
• Obtain vendor pricing and compare quotations.
• Coordinate with project managers, detailers, purchasing personnel, and shop teams.
• Monitor incoming materials against project requirements and BOMs.
• Help ensure fabrication activities stay on schedule through timely material coordination.
