Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation is seeking a Structural Project Management Engineer to lead the design and delivery of bridges and related structures. You will coordinate consultant scope, schedule, and budgets, perform technical reviews, and ensure compliance with standards.

The role requires a BS in civil/structural engineering, a PE license (WA or eligible with WA licensure within six months), and experience with structural analysis tools like PGSuper and CSIBridge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of science in civil or structural engineering, required.
  • Professional Engineer license in WA or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Experience with structural design and review for bridges/structures.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and coordinate multiple projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • Coordinate scope, schedule, and budget with Project Office and HQ groups.
  • Develop scope and schedule for consultant agreements and determine effort.
  • Estimate consultant fees and review qualifications.
  • Negotiate consultant fees and project schedules.
  • Provide technical oversight and review of consultants’ work.
  • Coordinate project delivery with Bridge Office groups and Project Office.
  • Design bridges and transportation structures of moderate complexity.
  • Provide construction support on projects with bridges and structures.
