Job summary

KPFF Spokane's Civil/Structural Team designs and evaluates infrastructure for bridges, walls, culverts, piers, and inspections in the Inland Northwest. This role leads and participates in engineering design and management of transportation projects, with a focus on technical excellence and client collaboration.

Requirements include a BSCE with emphasis in structural engineering, a Washington PE license (reciprocity OK), and 7–12 years of experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Washington State or reciprocity.
  • 7–12 years of experience in structural engineering for transportation projects.

Job Description

KPFF Spokane's Civil/ Structural Team is composed primarily of structural engineers who design and evaluate infrastructure that connects communities. Our work spans a wide range of bridge and heavy-civil projects, including highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, culverts that support fish passage, ferry terminals, piers, wharves, and structural inspections. We take pride in our collaborative approach to consulting, partnering with clients across the industry, from small local agencies, to state transportation departments, to architects and contractors. Our team contributes to projects that range from feasibility studies, to new construction, to rehabilitation, to retrofits, always with a focus on technical excellence, environmental stewardship, and community impact.

This position will allow you to lead and participate in the engineering design and management of a wide range of transportation projects in the Inland Northwest and beyond as well as:

  • Lead planning, design and construction support on stimulating infrastructure projects.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Washington State or the ability to obtain via reciprocity
  • 7-12 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSCE or MSE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License
  • Experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures
  • Proficiency with the following, or similar, software: CSI Software Suite (SAP, CSI Bridge), PG Super
  • Experience monitoring budgets and schedules, interacting with clients, and leading junior engineers.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator

  • Ability to work with, mentor, and lead junior engineers

Additional Information
Physical Demands
  • Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Compensation

The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $115,000 - $150,000 annually.
