Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team in Austin, TX; Houston, TX; or San Antonio, TX. You will design structural systems for various new construction projects and support with calculations, drawings, and construction administration.

The role requires 4+ years of experience and a PE license, with knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design principles, and familiarity with codes such as IBC and ACI.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional building structural engineering experience.
• P.E. required.
• Knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design principles.
• Understanding of current building and material design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE7, AISC360, ACI318, ACI 530 or NDS.

Responsibilities

• Become knowledgeable with CED systems for structural calculations, structural drawings and construction administration.
• Compile and modify General Notes sections from CED template.
• Perform routine structural calculations by hand and with design programs to develop familiarity with material codes.
• Review and modify typical detail templates as applicable for each project.
• Draw custom details as required for projects.
• Review structural drawings for foundation and framing layout, coordination with Architectural drawings and inclusion of standard notes and details.
• Redline structural drawings for drafting technicians.
• Prepare calculation and drawing packages for review by Project Managers.
• Review construction material submittals and shop drawings for conformance.
• Respond to construction RFIs and provide solutions to field issues.
