Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team in our Austin, TX; Houston, TX; or San Antonio, TX offices. Engineers will design structural systems for buildings, foundations, and earth retention for new construction, renovations and adaptive reuse, using steel, concrete, mass timber, masonry and light gauge framing.

Responsibilities include calculations, detailing, redlining, RFI handling, and CA duties; PE sign-off allowed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional building structural engineering experience.
• P.E. required.
• Proficiency with structural design software (RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, SAFE, PROFIS).
• Knowledge of IBC, ASCE7, AISC360, ACI318, ACI 530 or NDS.

Responsibilities

• Become knowledgeable with CED systems for structural calculations, drawings and construction administration.
• Compile and modify General Notes sections from CED template.
• Perform routine structural calculations by hand and with design software to learn material codes.
• Review and modify typical detail templates for each project.
• Draw custom details as required for projects.
• Review structural drawings for foundation and framing layout and ensure compliance with CED standards.
• Redline drawings for drafting technicians.
• Prepare calculation and drawing packages for review by Project Managers.
• Review construction submittals and shop drawings for conformance.
• Respond to RFIs and provide solutions to field issues.
