Colliers Engineering & Design in Austin, TX seeks a Structural Project Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team. You will handle calculations, detailing, CA duties, and coordination with PMs and architects on buildings and foundations.

The role requires 4+ years of structural experience and a PE license, with proficiency in AutoCAD and structural software like RISA, RAM, and TEKLA. Mass timber knowledge is a plus. Strong communication and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional building structural engineering experience.
• P.E. license is required.
• AutoCAD proficiency is required.
• Solid understanding of structural design software (RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, SAFE, PROFIS).
• Knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design principles.
• Mass timber experience or willingness to learn preferred.
• Familiarity with IBC, ASCE7, AISC360, ACI318, ACI 530 or NDS.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Strong communication skills.
• English reading/writing and comprehension.

Responsibilities

• Become knowledgeable with internal systems for structural calculations, drawings and CA.
• Compile and modify sections for General Notes.
• Perform routine structural calculations by hand and with design software.
• Review internal detail templates for new projects.
• Develop modifications where variations exist.
• Review drawings for foundation and framing layout for conformance.
• Hand sketch redlines for drafting technicians.
• Open architectural drawings to verify coordination issues.
• Prepare calculation and drawing packages for PM review.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance.
• Edit specification sections addressing structural items in coordination with Architect.
• Respond to RFIs and provide field solutions.
