Job description

Structural Project Engineer

Structural Engineering | Custom Projects

Most engineering roles fall into one of two categories:

You either become highly specialized and work on the same types of projects repeatedly, or you spend most of your time supporting work designed by someone else.

This opportunity offers something different.

We're partnering with a well-established, employee-owned industrial manufacturer seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team responsible for designing custom structural systems and engineered solutions used throughout industrial and commercial environments.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving unique problems, performing structural analysis, and taking ownership of projects from concept through release.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?
  • Work on highly customized, engineer-driven projects where your technical expertise directly impacts the success of the business
  • Own projects from concept through production, staying involved throughout the entire lifecycle rather than handing designs off after the initial design phase.
  • Apply structural engineering principles to real-world challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver practical, customer-focused solutions.
  • Join a highly experienced and collaborative engineering team that values knowledge sharing, mentorship, and continuous learning.
  • Gain direct exposure to engineering leadership and visibility across the organization.
  • Enjoy a high level of autonomy and ownership while still having the support of a strong technical team.
  • See your designs move from calculations and models into fabrication and finished products.
  • Work in a stable, growing, employee-owned company where engineers have a meaningful voice and long-term career opportunities.
  • Experience a wide variety of projects, providing continual technical challenges and opportunities for professional growth.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Design and engineer custom structural systems and fabricated steel assemblies
  • Perform structural calculations, load analysis, and design validation
  • Apply engineering principles and codes to ensure safe and effective designs
  • Develop and review 3D models and engineering documentation
  • Partner with project management, manufacturing, drafting, and customer-facing teams
  • Evaluate design modifications and customer-driven changes
  • Support projects from initial release through production
  • Participate in occasional field verification and site-related activities
What We're Looking For:

We are interested in engineers who have strong technical fundamentals and enjoy applying them to real-world projects.

Qualified candidates may come from backgrounds such as:
  • Structural Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Architectural Engineering

Experience in any of the following areas would be valuable:
  • Structural design
  • Structural steel
  • Building systems
  • Industrial structures
  • Fabricated products
  • Custom engineered equipment

The Ideal Profile:
  • Enjoy structural calculations and engineering analysis
  • Like solving unique technical problems
  • Take ownership of your work
  • Are naturally curious and eager to learn
  • Communicate well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Can manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
  • Want a role where your engineering decisions matter
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Experience performing engineering calculations and design work
  • Knowledge of structural principles and applied engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with 3D CAD or engineering design software
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred:
  • Structural analysis experience
  • Building code familiarity
  • PE license or PE-track experience
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Base salary targeted around $100,000
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • Employee ownership program
