Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) is seeking a Structural Practice Lead for Buildings to guide the strategic direction of our building structural practice.

You will lead staff across multiple offices, manage client relations, and support winning proposals with a focus on transportation-related structures for state agencies and transportation authorities. The role demands a can-do attitude, strong communication, and the ability to work independently or with a team in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or architecture; MS preferred.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in building design.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience on structures for state agencies and transportation authorities.
• PE or RA license.
• Proven success in completing structural designs and contract plans per engineering standards.
• Past business development success and industry relationships.
• Ability to travel as needed to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Key client and contract management.
• Coordinate with Architecture partners.
• Technical oversight and review.
• Generate new business development opportunities and prepare winning proposals.
• Lead go/no go and partnering decisions on strategic pursuits.
• Project scoping and development.
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with external disciplines.
• Supervising and mentoring younger staff.
• Quality management.
• Monitoring of project budgets and schedules.
• Establish and track project milestones and quarterly business goals.
• Involvement in key personnel decisions.
