Job summary

The City of Phoenix Planning and Development Department is seeking a Structural Plans Engineer to review and examine complex building construction plans for compliance with adopted codes and ordinances. This role provides guidance to architects, engineers, and contractors on the interpretation of the Phoenix Building Construction Code and resolves intricate code issues.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in structural engineering with knowledge of IBC/IEBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI

Qualifications

Three years of experience in the building construction industry relating to structural engineering for buildings or similar structures.
Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field.
By the end of probation, must meet two requirements: Registered Professional Engineer / Structural or Civil (PE) in the State of Arizona and ICC Building Plans Examiner (B3).
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Review and examine complex building construction plans for compliance with adopted codes and ordinances.
Provide written and verbal guidance to architects, engineers, and contractors related to code interpretation.
