Job summary

Peninsula Iron Works is seeking a hands-on welder to assemble and weld structural components for asphalt plant systems. You’ll start at the bench with blueprints, perform precise fit-up, and finish with clean, consistent welds designed to minimize post‑grinding.

You will use GMAW (MIG) and FCAW, read welding symbols, and operate forklifts and overhead cranes. This role may require overtime, including weekends, to support production schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience welding with GMAW and FCAW.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Fit-up skills to prepare high-quality joints.

• Ability to pass a welding skills test.

Responsibilities

Build the equipment that builds our roads

Step into a hands‑on role where you’ll assemble and weld structural components that form complete asphalt plant systems and related equipment. Your day starts at the bench with blueprints and WPS in hand, moves to precise fit‑up, and finishes with clean, consistent welds that require minimal post‑grinding.

A day in the life

• Review drawings, weld symbols, and WPS before setting up your station.
• Fit and weld metal parts for asphalt plant equipment with a quality‑first mindset.
• Run GMAW (MIG) and FCAW processes confidently; verify parameters and ensure the machine is dialed in for the material and position.
• Inspect material for smoothness and joint acceptability prior to striking an arc.
• Produce accurate, repeatable welds designed to minimize post‑grinding and rework.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely to position heavy components.
• Wear the right PPE at all times, including welding hood with correct filter shade and arm/body protection; follow all safety procedures without exception.
• Support production needs—overtime, including weekends, may be required as necessary.

What you bring
