Job summary

Peninsula Iron Works is seeking a hands-on welder to assemble and weld structural components for asphalt plant systems. You’ll start at the bench with blueprints, perform precise fit-up, and finish with clean, consistent welds designed to minimize post‑grinding.

You will use GMAW (MIG) and FCAW, read welding symbols, and operate forklifts and overhead cranes. This role may require overtime, including weekends, to support production schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience welding with GMAW and FCAW.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Fit-up skills to prepare high-quality joints.
• Certification to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Ability to pass a welding skills test.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and welding symbols before setup.
• Fit and weld metal parts for asphalt plant equipment.
• Run GMAW (MIG) and FCAW; verify parameters.
• Inspect material for joint quality before arc.
• Produce repeatable welds to minimize rework.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely.
• Wear PPE and follow safety procedures.
• Support production needs; overtime may be required.
