Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. is seeking a skilled welder to perform MIG (GMAW) and FCAW welding on structural and mechanical components for energy systems. You will read blueprints, set up and operate welding equipment, and weld in multiple positions while ensuring quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting welds, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with team members to meet production goals. Must pass a FCAW 3G weld test and undergo background and drug screening.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of GMAW (MIG) and FCAW welding experience.
  • Must pass FCAW weld test (3G vertical up) prior to hire.
  • Weld coupons reviewed by CWI and bend tested.
  • Experience with carbon steel plates (A-36, ~1/2" thick) in multiple positions.
  • Authorized to work in the United States; background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret blueprints, layouts, diagrams, and work orders.
  • Position, align, and secure workpieces using clamps and fixtures.
  • Operate MIG (GMAW) and FCAW welding equipment to join components.
  • Set up welding parameters, including electrodes, gas, and polarity.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Inspect welds for conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain welding equipment; replace consumables as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team to meet production schedules.

Job description

Perform welding and fabrication of power plant components using MIG (GMAW) and FCAW processes in accordance with blueprints, layouts, and work orders. This role is responsible for producing high-quality welds on structural and mechanical components used in energy systems, ensuring all work meets company standards, engineering specifications, and applicable codes.Position ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret blueprints, layouts, diagrams, and work orders prior to fabrication and weldingPosition, align, and secure workpieces using clamps, jigs, and fixturesOperate MIG (GMAW) and FCAW welding equipment to join metal componentsSet up welding equipment by selecting appropriate electrodes, consumables, and gas/nozzle configurationsIgnite torch or initiate power supply and establish proper arc conditionsAdjust gas flow, amperage, voltage, and polarity to achieve optimal weld performanceGuide welding torch or electrode along weld joints at specified angles and travel speedsWeld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positionsPerform repairs on cracked, broken, or worn metal componentsFill holes, reinforce structures, and modify metal parts using welding techniquesInspect completed welds to ensure conformance with specifications and quality standardsIdentify and replace consumables such as liners, contact tips, and wire spools as neededMaintain welding equipment and ensure proper operation of power sources (e.g., Miller and/or Lincoln systems)Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work areaCollaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality expectationsSupport fabrication processes including flame cutting and related metalworking tasks as requiredRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalentMinimum of 2 years of experience with GMAW (MIG) and FCAW welding processesAbility to successfully pass a weld test in FCAW (3G position - vertical up)Weld coupons subject to Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) evaluation and bend testing prior to hireExperience working with carbon steel plate (A-36, approximately 1/2" thickness) in multiple positionsMust be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)Must successfully pass a criminal history/background check and pre-employment drug screeningDesired QualificationsWorking knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and welding safety practicesAbility to use measuring and layout tools including tape measure, micrometer, calipers, square, level, angle finder, and weld gaugesExperience operating forklifts safelyKnowledge of safe rigging practices and overhead crane operationFamiliarity with industrial welding power sources (e.g., Miller, Lincoln)Understanding of welding parameters including amperage, wire speed, and consumable selectionAbility to maintain cost efficiency while ensuring quality and productivityStrong attention to detail and ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds
