Job summary

Banker Steel is seeking an experienced welder to perform FCAW welding on structural steel. The role involves reading blueprints, laying out parts, and aligning assemblies with precision.

Candidates should be able to gouge material, interpret weld symbols, and execute tasks with minimal errors. Responsibilities include welding in vertical or horizontal positions, verifying measurements, and following safety rules.

Qualifications

• Experience in FCAW welding/fitting and structural steel background preferred.
• Recognize and understand weld symbols.
• Independently reads and interprets blueprints for fitting.
• Able to read a tape line accurately.
• Able to gouge material properly.
• Does minor layouts for jigs and floor laydowns.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in vertical or horizontal positions.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts using rulers and calipers.
• Inspect work for defects and ensure conformance to specs.
• Set up and operate welding equipment such as SMAW and GMAW.
• Maintain safety and proper PPE as required.
• Follow company and OSHA safety rules.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Weld components in vertical or horizontal position.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
• Understand and follow company and OSHA safety rules.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to constantly work in various indoor conditions including hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions.
• Must be able to lift a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be able to carry a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Frequent standing, walking, reaching forward, balancing, feeling, object handling, simple hand grasping, firm hand grasping, and operating controls will be required.
• Regular sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching overhead, stooping, and crouching will be required.
• Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
