Job summary

The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) Building Codes Division seeks a Building Inspector to enforce statewide codes for commercial and residential structures. You will inspect various buildings, explain code requirements to stakeholders, and investigate non-compliance cases to ensure safe and compliant construction practices.

Qualified candidates will hold mandatory inspector certifications and will obtain any missing ones within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Possession of all the following certifications: Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) Commercial Structural Inspector Certification, Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification, Residential Structural Inspector Certification
• Note: Certifications must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the Statewide Building Code and adopted specialty codes and standards through inspection of all types of buildings
• Communicate code requirements to the public, contractors, and local officials
• Investigate cases of non-compliance and report appropriately
