Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years related structural assembly experience. Experience working with Solumina and Smarteam preferred. Position Purpose: In a team-oriented work environment, under minimal supervision, Structural Mech II performs a variety of structural assembly operations following established procedures, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Safely perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, including drilling and riveting operations, ensuring parts meet requirements. Perform sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation on aircraft.
2. Rivet structural assemblies using all required tools, including portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, drills, and shavers. Remove fasteners without damaging structures.
3. Read work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets to determine operation sequence, rivet sizes, and hole patterns. Follow procedures for adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
4. Check work for defects prior to final inspection.
5. Maintain logs and records such as MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs.
6. Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners. Form complex angles per blueprints.
7. Perform repairs per DMTs, MRRs, PCOs, and rework as needed to ensure conformity.
8. Maintain a clean and safe work area, support 5S program, and use PPE as required.
9. Work with minimal supervision and participate in continuous improvement activities.
10. Properly use and return tools and equipment.
11. Follow SOPs when operating ground support equipment.

Additional Functions:

1. Properly dispose of waste fluids and materials.
2. Accurately charge daily work to aircraft.
3. Coordinate work activities across shifts and with leadership.
4. Assist in maintaining shop equipment and support Lean activities.

Other Requirements:

1. Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical documents.
2. Basic computer and shop math skills.
3. Ability to read scales and perform shop math.
4. Attention to detail, professional attitude, and teamwork skills.
5. Good housekeeping and safety practices.
6. Ability to work with composite materials.
7. Ability to work any shift, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift 50 lbs.
8. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
