Position: Structural Mechanic II in GAC Appleton

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, 2 years related structural assembly experience, experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.

Position Purpose: In a team-oriented environment, under minimal supervision, perform a variety of structural assembly operations following established procedures, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Safely assemble and fit detail parts and structures, including drilling and riveting operations, ensuring parts meet requirements.
  2. Perform sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts on aircraft.
  3. Rivet structural assemblies using appropriate tools, demonstrating ability to handle fasteners without damaging structures.
  4. Read work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence and specifications.
  5. Conduct inspections to ensure defect-free assemblies before final inspection.
  6. Maintain logs and records such as MIR sheets, DMTs, PCOs.
  7. Align and assemble parts with jigs, fixtures, and fasteners, shaping complex angles per blueprints.
  8. Perform rework and repairs as per DMTs, MRRs, PCOs to ensure conformity.
  9. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, supporting the 5S program and safety regulations.
  10. Work with minimal supervision and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  11. Properly use and maintain tools and equipment, returning items after use.
  12. Follow standard operating procedures when operating ground support equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Properly dispose of waste fluids and materials.
  2. Ensure accurate daily job charging to aircraft.
  3. Coordinate work activities across shifts and with leadership.
  4. Support shop equipment maintenance and lean activities.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Basic computer and shop math skills.
  • Aptitude for hands-on craftwork, professionalism, attention to detail, and teamwork.
  • Good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Ability to work in small spaces, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in English.
