Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred with field experience.
• Strong ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Proficient with measuring tools and safe tool use.
• Able to work outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Fabricates metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting; signals operators to lift structural members into place.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces using shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Forces structural steel members into final positions using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.
• Bolts structural-steel members for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assembles hoisting equipment or rigging to move heavy equipment or materials.
• Estimates sizes, distances, and quantities; determines time, costs, resources, or materials needed.
