Job summary

Matrix Service is seeking experienced structural‑steel crew members in Washington to raise, place, and unite girders, columns and other steel members as part of a crew. You will set up hoisting equipment, guide loads with tag lines, and ensure precise alignment before permanent bolting or welding.

The role requires 3+ years in refinery maintenance/turnaround/construction, basic hand‑tool knowledge, NCCER certification, and completion of Matrix Service safety and client/site trainings; DISA drug

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience.
• General knowledge of basic hand tools.
• Must be able to complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
• Completed the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
• To obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Responsibilities

• Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural‑steel members.
• Signal worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member.
• Guide member, using tag line (rope).
• Align bolt holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member by driving drift pins or handle of wrench through holes.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members, using plumb bob and level.
• Bolt aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place.
• Cut and weld steel members to make alterations.
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
