Job summary

Matrix Service Co is seeking skilled craftsmen's assistant roles to support planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of structural steel within project crews. You will help raise and place girders, columns, and other steel members under supervision, contributing to safe, efficient construction.

The role requires experience in refinery maintenance/construction, adherence to safety procedures, and ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in varying

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience.
• Must follow company safety procedures and industry known best work practices
• A general knowledge of basic hand tools
• Must be able to pass Craft proficiency testing at or above 70%
• Completed the Matrix Service C-Stop Plus Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training
• Must obtain and maintain active status within the required drug testing program
• Must pass a pre-employment background check
• Must be able to meet physical demands of the job

Responsibilities

• Assemble and secure structural supports according to specifications
• Practical knowledge of structural steel assembly and installation
• Use hand tools to adjust and fasten steel beams
• Lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials using proper mechanical equipment
• Aligns bolt holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member by driving drift pins or handle of wrench through holes
• Attaching loads using chains, slings, cables, hooks and other related equipment
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision
• Must be familiar with crane/rigging hand signals
